Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Puppage app, website, and services — the journal, Storyteller features, Puppage Studio, and printed memory books. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to them. You must be at least 18 to purchase; the service is not directed at children under 13.

1. Your journal and your content

You own everything you write and upload. You grant Puppage a limited license to host, process, print, and transmit your content solely to operate the features you use — storing your journal, generating recaps and illustrations when Storyteller is on, assembling and printing your book, and (only with your explicit opt-in) sending a keepsake edition to your dog's rescue. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for completed orders and records we must keep by law.

You're responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Don't use Puppage to store unlawful content or content that infringes someone else's rights.

2. Storyteller and AI-generated content

• Storyteller is opt-in. Recaps and illustrations are AI-generated; recaps are labeled, and imagined dog-voice passages are always marked "Imagined."
• Generated illustrations are artistic interpretations — a likeness may be imperfect. Each illustration includes up to 3 redraws; you approve every illustration before it appears in a printed book.
• You own the illustrations generated from your content for your personal use, including in your printed books. [Confirm: any Puppage marketing use requires separate written permission from the user.]
• Generated content is not veterinary, medical, or professional advice. Health-related entries may be held for review rather than retold.
• Generation is subject to fair-use limits (journaling is never limited). Abuse of generation features may pause them on your account.

3. Subscriptions

• Plans: Journal+ Yearly ($107.88/year), Journal+ Monthly ($4.99/month), and Household ($12.99/month, up to [5] household members). Prices in USD; taxes may apply.
• Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are billed and cancelled through your store account settings, any time, effective at the end of the current period.
• Billing issues: a failed renewal starts a 14-day grace period with full access. If payment isn't restored the plan lapses — your journal stays readable forever; writing and generation pause until you resubscribe.
• Book credits: Yearly and Household plans include one memory-book credit per plan year. Credits are granted after the platform refund window on the payment closes, cover a book of up to 100 pages (page overage billed separately), and [roll over one year, max 2 banked]. If the payment that earned a credit is refunded or charged back, an unused credit is revoked; if it was spent on an order not yet in print, the order is held.

4. Memory books — orders, shipping, refunds and reprints

• Pricing: $54 with an active membership / $64 without, covering up to 100 pages; $0.35 per additional page. Books are 24–800 pages, hardcover, shipping included.
• Shipping: United States only at launch. You're responsible for the accuracy of your shipping address; a book returned for an undeliverable address can be reshipped at cost.
• Personalized goods: every book is printed for you alone. Orders may be cancelled for a full refund until printing begins (typically within [24 hours] of ordering); after that, all sales are final.
• Our reprint promise: if your book arrives damaged, misprinted, or with a production defect, contact us within 30 days of delivery with photos and we'll reprint and reship it free. Preferring different photos or wording after printing isn't a defect — you approve the full preview before ordering.
• Orders survive your subscription: a placed order is honored even if your plan lapses before it ships.

5. Puppage Studio

A Studio pack ($4.99) includes 5 sessions of 3 portraits each. Sessions included with a subscription expire at the end of each month; purchased packs are valid for [12 months]. If a session produces no usable images, it's automatically refunded to your pack. Studio prompts are screened; prompts that violate the content rules are declined without charge.

6. The rescue give-back

• When you order a book for a dog adopted from a verified partner rescue, Puppage donates $10 of that order to the rescue at no cost to you. Verified partners are rescues with a signed Puppage partner agreement.
• You may add your own donation at checkout — 100% passes through to the rescue (Puppage covers processing fees). Donations are made to the rescue, which is solely responsible for any tax receipt; Puppage is not a charity and your order is not a charitable contribution.
• The digital keepsake edition is emailed to the rescue only if you opt in, and you approve its pages first.

7. Referrals

Gift links give a friend their first month; you earn a month when they create an account and write their first memory. One reward per new household; self-referrals, duplicate accounts, and automated signups don't qualify, and we may withhold or reverse rewards from abuse. Rewards are plan extensions, not cash.

8. Acceptable use, termination, and the usual terms

• Don't abuse the service: no unlawful content, no attempts to circumvent limits or access others' journals, no reverse engineering, no automated scraping.
• We may suspend accounts for violations, with notice where practicable. Even after termination for cause, we will provide you an export of your journal on request — memories are never held hostage.
• The service is provided "as is"; to the extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
